The purpose of this project is to express our concerns about the current state of emergency that we, as inhabitants of Earth, are facing. Visitors are invited to interact with the AI-generated sea animals that guard the works in our pavilion to view the curated collection.
Bystander by Liu Chang Video walkthrough of VR game featuring commentary by the artist
Bystander is an art project that discusses the difficulties often faced by left-behind children in China, including domestic violence and the lack of emotional attachment between parents and children. I adopted the research method of Autoethnography and used my personal experience to create the artwork. Long-term domestic violence caused me to suffer from childhood PTSD, depersonalization disorder(DP), and borderline personality disorder. This interactive movie simulates the mental abnormalities I often experience, such as emotional numbness, hypervigilance, and intrusive memories. In this interactive film, players explore my inner world by controlling a game character from a third-person perspective, which represents a typical DP symptom. People with DP sometimes experience an out-of-body experience, becoming a “bystander” standing next to their body and observing themselves.
Mirrors by PhattySound
Mirrors is a study of generative sounds and data sonification. It explores not only the creative process of sound but also how sound can impact us mentally, emotionally, and psychologically. My goal with this project is to engage with the process itself, understanding how it affects me as an artist and how I reciprocate to the work. It's a collaborative and intimate exchange, where I create different sounds, meditate with them, journal my experiences, and revisit both the sounds and my own self in unison, adding layers to each chapter of my journey. Ultimately, this project aims to convey the message that time is multidimensional.
The sounds were created from recordings of ocean waves moving through sand, which creates a beautiful visual formation. This is polarity in action. The collective unconscious of the ocean that's impacted by the phases of the moon carrying the feminine energy of water, colliding with the material conscious of sand, present and available. Carrying a masculine energy of earth. The visual formations resemble streams of consciousness or souls connected on the same universal plane. It shows me a visual example of how I at times find someone who mirrors me, who's on the same path as me, someone I met for the first time but already felt like I knew them.
TO YOU FROM ME and FORCED MIGRATION by Aleksei Martinyuk Videos, shown separately
The created mobile kaleidoscopic collages are filled with their gradually emerging imagery and mythology. One of the central images in Aleksei's iconography are his own hands – the hands of the artist. Before using any other available tools for our self-expression, at the disposal the artist is his very first and main tool – his hands. They, having a wide range of opportunities for artistic expression, are themselves full of creativity, able to convey messages and express feelings. Hands create works of art and at the same time become one of its own characters.Language games often become another layer of intellectual and emotional involvement that Aleksei uses. They improve the perception of a literary text, provide an opportunity to draw new meanings, build associative arrays and logical chains. The original linguistic units subjected to creative processing, their new meanings enriched with an emotional and evaluative increment of meaning, as well as references and quotations actively used by the artist. They can fall out of communication or lose the status of understandable signs, but such a textual narrative with hyperlinks becomes one of the connecting elements in his works.Aleksei's video artworks do not represent some kind of subjective experience, but rather create the conditions for its occurrence for the viewer. They are aimed to expand the viewing experience and create new perceptive situations in which familiar elements of the surrounding world are placed in new contexts.

Yêu Kiều by Tiến Nguyễn, Trí Thiện, Lê Duy, Xuân Minh, Gia HuyMusic video
The title itself is a wordplay of an adjective commonly used to describe a beautiful woman, as in "graceful" or "enchanting". But it also refers to "loving Thúy Kiều" the protagonist of the famous Tales of Kieu by the prolific Vietnamese poet Nguyễn Du. Rather than taking the conventional adaptation from the protagonist's perspective, we used the lenses of lesser-acknowledged male characters who have greatly alternated and influenced Thúy Kiều's lives across her journey to return home after being sold to a brothel. The performance was also an intertextual parody inspired by the well-acclaimed musical Chicago's Cell Block Tango.
Walking With The Waves by Taiki AritaVideo
The visuals are two paintings called "Waves" created on the beach in the Seto Inland Sea. The paintings were painted using seaweed, driftwood, and shells found on the beach as paintbrushes, and the paint was dissolved in seawater. The artist created the paintings while facing the sea and feeling the energy of the waves. He also pasted marine plastic wastes, driftwood, seashells, and sea glass that he found on the beach onto the paintings, suggesting the problems facing the ocean today. The audio was recorded walking along the beach.
