In life, I tend to ameliorate the lives of audience members by expressing artwork which causes reprogramming of deleterious habits.
What is Cata's philosophy
My philosophy is a continuous contextual improvement by which we can all further our self-expression as artists and audience together, beyond the image, and towards the proper and adequate installation of our performances as ideal humans in global society. Read More...

I mean to explain that the experience of art today on the internet involves the aggregation of content in a sequential manner that manifests a shift in perception where we are led towards understanding our lives as reflected by a meta archive that is present all the time, rather than stored away in memory.
My goal is usually to promote a greater good via exposure, or reprogramming of a site by creating awareness of any societal inconsistency in the face of real expression, by using materials and concepts available in that very moment alone.

FAIL : Frustration & Genius
breaching the epitome of senselessness
Posted on September 23, 2010
If I dress a million people in a plastic bag and make them follow a mindless
city path lead by an instructional video which entices them to modify their
walk into a fit expression of joy, then I will see the many expressions of
the W A Y shape as a byproduct drawn by their collective endeavour.
The People’s Republic of China is not scarce of its most precious resource,
and this is evident in the pervasion of every major city of Earth. The
presence of Chinese people is always associated with financial good luck,
health, and good food. It is not surprising then that during festival times
and world expositions many of the atendees play the role of paid actors,
which leads them to enjoy their experiences even more.
In my practice I seek to demonetize the human experience by rendering enjoyment pure. I also study the human movement at the massive level. I very much enjoy trending and the pursuit of senseless endeavours for the sake of positive and
friendship-inducing collective growth.
For the EXPO-EXOSKELETON studio I devised my project to study the presence and manifestation of the W A Y shape at a massive scale. The W A Y shape is an endless drawing which reduces the momentary presences to a shape akin to a pinched circle. This pinch, or neck of the W A Y shape changes and evolves depending on the agudez (acuity) of the instance. The head part or wider area of the W AY shape shows the movement or relative ephemeral quality of the situation, personality, presence, each instance maintains. The W A Y shape may or may not be pre-existing, or manifested through collections, as well as drawn by the artist purposefully or accidentally.
My study requires the presence of the most precious resource in China, fit human bodies that can perform a cartwheel at will, present simultaneously in a large city area from which each of the participants can view and listen to a very attractive instructional video.
I have chosen four sites at which to work given the size of their intersections and the ready availability of large viewing screens. Two of these sites are underground, and two are above ground.
1. People’s Square intersection with Nanjing Road, using the screen at the
China Arts & Crafts Center as the trigger for a cartwheel parade that would
circle around People’s Square, The Central Theatre, and The Shanghai Center for Architecture
and continue down to…
2. The metro station at People’s Square, as there are 10 screens with sound
that blast while entering the lower ground of the station
which after taking red line 1 would lead to stop at…
3. Xujiahui metro station, where there is a large screen with sound followed
by a smaller, silent screen on the way towards the station interchange of
water blue line 9. This is the place where most people would be expected to
begin to dissipate.
The large underground screen leading away from…
4. Metro City intersection, where there are three screens facing each other,
where the third screen is in the shape of a globe. This is the meeting point
of Caoxi North Rd & Zhaojiabang Rd. taking the path away from the metro
station arrival and down Zhaojiabang Rd going North East dissipating into
the thick of Shanghai, with maintained instruction by the video loop as the
crowd encounters each new viewing screen.
To study the collective movement of the mass, video recordings taken from
various elevated windows will be analysed for W A Y shape expression using
Facial Recognition Software. FRS has been proven to prefer white round
shapes that dimly reflect light, which will work for our purposes given the
contrast of the uniform on the concrete city environment.
Ideally, this would involve all participants to wear a uniform that
highlights their torso, such as a monochromatic sac with three holes, to
ease the study of the manifestation of the W A Y shape. The flow would also
be expected to diminish and dissipate into the city as the participants are
ailed by various issues.
W A Y is this case has become the name of the marriage between a parade and a flashmob, with the purpose of expressing endless forms of the W A Y shape as drawn naturally by the human form.
Yet it is unfathomable to think of attempting to obtain the help for this
project, as funding is nonexistent. To gather one million people for a
couple of hours, diverting traffic and the regular flow of a city which is
home to twenty million or more has been deemed an impossible feat.
